The Rules
This is a self-supported, self-navigated, open-road event - there are no street closures, course markings, or aid-stations along the route. This event requires problem-solving and strategy in addition to physical endurance, working as a team to reach your goal.
Relay teams must have 2 to 5 runners to compete. You may also have alternate runners on standby in the event of illness or injury, however, once your alternate runner joins the race, the original runner cannot return to the team and the alternate must finish the event in their place.
The rules are simple: Each team must make it from Atlanta to Savannah on foot, with additional side-quests along the way. Each team must have at least one person moving on foot, covering the entire distance from start to finish. Runners may alternate as often as desired and in any order desired, assuming there is a safe and legal transition point to do so. Vehicles should never park on private property, block roadways, tail runners at a slow speed, or do anything to attract negative attention to the event.
The first team to reach Forsyth Park will be crowned champions.
The Route:
Starting in the heart of East Lake, runners will traverse through the vibrant streets of Atlanta, passing iconic landmarks and leaving the city life behind. As they make their way south, route meanders through charming small towns, sprawling forests, and peaceful farmlands before hitting the serene coastline near Savannah. Along the way, participants will experience the gradual transition from the hustle and bustle of city life to the tranquil, moss-draped charm of the Low Country.
Atlanta to Monticello (Leg 1): The first leg is a challenging urban and rural mix, featuring rolling hills and long stretches of greenway, using the Rockdale River Trail, Arabia Mountain Path, and South River Trail.
Monticello to Milledgeville (Leg 2): A mid-race section that dips into Georgia’s agricultural heartland, offering quiet roads and stunning views of fields and forests.
Milledgeville to Metter (Leg 3): A fast-paced leg with straightaways and slightly flatter terrain, perfect for maintaining pace.
Metter to Savannah (Leg 4): The final stretch takes runners through picturesque rural landscapes before entering Savannah, with the finish crossing over cobblestone streets, and ending with the final sprint through historic Forsyth Park.

This event requires problem-solving and strategy in addition to physical endurance, working as a team to reach your goal. Despite covering roughly 50 miles per runner during the event, many find that running short segments at a time is much easier than expected. The difficulty comes from managing recovery between each run segment and cumulative fatigue. Cooling strategies should be implented during the heat of the day and proper fueling and hydration are key to your success. Runners should be comfortable running through the night as well.

Participants are responsible for providing their own transportation and accommodations. Teams may find it useful to rent a passenger van or large SUV for their journey, although it's not required. Some teams may opt for multiple vehicles, allowing one vehicle to scout ahead or secure supplies, while the other stays behind with the active runners.
RV's are discouraged due to their size.
If you are booking overnight accommodations in Savannah, we recommend looking east/southeast of Forsyth park and paying attention to parking details if booking a hotel or Airbnb, as many require street parking or paid garages if downtown. -
We expect teams to maintain an average pace below a 14:00 minute mile (collective team pace), in order to arrive in Savannah by 5PM on Sunday, a total of 58 hours running. If your team is not able to maintain this pace by night-fall on Saturday evening, we may ask that you discontinue the race for your safety. You may still complete the drive to Savannah if desired.
If you expect to move slower, you may still participate! Simply request an earlier start time and we will do our best to accommodate. Note: this would exclude your team from winning overall should you happen to arrive in Savannah first. -
